Ruddiman Creek/Pond Project
Public Meeting
January 9, 2006
Muskegon residents gathered on January 9, 2006 to hear updates on the sediment cleanup at the Ruddiman Creek and Ruddiman Pond project. Staff from the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National Program Office, Michigan DEQ, Earth Tech engineers and contractors, Muskegon Lake Public Advisory Committee, and Grand Valley State University were on hand to answer residents' questions about project progress, plans for restoration of native plants and wildlife, and recreational uses of the waterway. Earth Tech delivered a presentation outlining the final stages of the dredging component of the project, which is may be completed as early as March 2006, depending on the weather. The Glenside Neighborhood Association also began recruiting volunteers to assist with restoration (planting and maintenance) of native plants along the creek this spring.
