2003 Conservation and Native Landscaping Awards Descriptions

Honorable Mention

Palos Park Village Hall
Village of Palos Park
Palos Park, Illinois

Contact: Patricia Jones

Because of the rich hardwood forest settings and the variety of natural ecosystems within and bordering Palos Park, the Village decided to use native plantings as a natural landscaping design for the Kaptur Administrative Center, which was dedicated in October 2001. This native habitat of Prairie, Wet Shores and Fescue Grasses and native Wildflowers and plants provides a striking, appealing mixture of natural landscaping, while reducing maintenance costs and eliminating the need for the use of fertilizers.
